No. You do not need to be married. Single women and women with partners are both eligible to apply. You do need to have completed at least one successful, uncomplicated pregnancy and be parenting at least one child.
No. Life Through Surrogacy only facilitates gestational surrogacy. The embryo is created from the intended parents’ (or donors’) genetic material and transferred to you. You have no genetic connection to the child.
Generally: ages 21–40, a BMI under 32, at least one successful prior pregnancy (full-term, no major complications), non-smoker, resident of Florida or North Carolina, financially stable, and passing medical and psychological screenings. Each application is reviewed individually.
Compensation typically begins at legal clearance — once the surrogacy contract is signed and you’ve received medical approval. Base compensation is distributed in monthly installments throughout the pregnancy, with the final payment made within days of delivery.
The intended parents cover 100% of all surrogacy-related medical expenses. You are never responsible for any costs related to the pregnancy, treatments, prenatal care, or delivery. This is outlined in detail in your legal contract.
From initial application to delivery, most surrogacy journeys take 12–18 months. The application and screening process typically takes 2–4 months, matching takes 1–3 months, and the pregnancy itself is approximately 9 months.
Yes. Every surrogate is provided with their own independent legal counsel — an attorney who represents your interests separately from the intended parents’ attorney. This is a non-negotiable part of the process and all legal fees are covered.

If your egg or sperm is used, the baby may be genetically related to you. In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate is not genetically related to the baby.
